Family matters for Chambers

Luke Chambers’ revelations in a Nottingham Post interview that his wife was suffering from post-natal depression have led to speculation as to the reasons for the delay in his transfer to Ipswich Town.

Paul Jewell has confirmed his interest and Ipswich remain favourites to sign the out-of-contract Forest captain.

But earlier in the week it was reported that Derby had made a cheeky bid, suggesting Chambers might prefer to keep his new family settled in the East Midlands.

Sympathy to Luke and his wife over the issues they have been going through. Nonetheless, we have to question the wisdom of going public with this – private matters are usually best kept that way. Still, we know from last season that Chambers is not backwards about coming forward in his public speaking…
