Spirits still high after Forest rescue draw
So Forest were unable to pick up after the international break where they left off, mainly due to the smart tactics of Birmingham who, according to James Bolton on Seat Pitch, ‘set about stopping us play and for large amounts of the game, were successful.’
Nevertheless, the nature of the comeback left eighteensixtyfive praising the team’s bouncebackability (clearly those guys enjoy combining three words to make one!) while Through the Seasons Before Us says the nature of the comeback should ‘see us in good spirits for forthcoming trips to Palace and Leeds’.
The consensus is that it was a fair result, that Birmingham’s game plan earned them a point at the least, but there is praise all round for the character shown by the players as well as Sean O’Driscoll’s tactical changes.
As well as a dramatic finale and spectacular goal by Simon Cox, the game was notable for the full début of Billy Sharp – he didn’t score, but fans from the LTLF Forum have set up a Just Giving page where fans can donate a pound for every time he does net for the Reds. The money will go to the charitable foundation Billy set-up in memory of the baby son he lost last year. We’re sure every football fan was touched by the tragic story and the quality goal the striker dedicated to him a few days later and many of us Reds will happily give up a quid for every Forest goal he gets during his spell here.
